Be a Geek is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more diverse and equitable STEM community. Our mission is to encourage and enable Black students and professionals to pursue and excel in STEM careers. Together, we aim to build a brighter future where everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve their full potential in STEM and beyond.
Our approach
Encourage Black youth to pursue their STEM dreams
We will Inspire by producing interactive media to foster early age interest, Celebrate by highlighting Black STEM experts that have excelled academically and professionally, and Educate by showcasing popular and lesser-known STEM-related jobs as alternatives to common career choices.
Empower STEM programs & professionals to maximize impact
We will use the Be a Geek platform and network to promote STEM programs and lessen overhead, and connect STEM programs, STEM experts, and funders.
Enable connection between parents, educators, & sTEM programs
We will leverage mobile technology to close gaps and facilitate connection between parents and educators and vetted, high-impact STEM programs and experts.
